About

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and Networking at XJTLU. I received my Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, in 2014. I received my M.Eng. degree and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2019 and 2023, respectively. Before joining XJTLU in April 2025, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hybrid Positioning Research Group (HPRG) at UESTC from 2023 to 2024, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the KU 6G Research Center at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 2024 to 2025. From 2014 to 2016, I worked as a Site Engineer (contract) for Ericsson (Ghana) and TIGO (Ghana). To date, I have co-authored over 60 SCI papers in top journals, including IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials (COMST), IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC), IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT), IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM), IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC), IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IoT-J), IEEE Communications Magazine (COMMAG), and Elsevier's Journal of Network and Computer Applications (JNCA), as well as Future Generations Computer Systems (FGCS). I have also published and presented at top conference venues, including IEEE INFOCOM and IEEE GLOBECOM. I am a peer-reviewer for more than 40 IEEE, Elsevier, and ACM journals. I am also currently a Guest Editor for the Special Issue: Positioning and Sensing Technologies for Ubiquitous Mobile Intelligence at MDPI Sensors, and a Chair at the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs): Intelligent Communications, Network, and Service Management Workshop at the 22nd International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing (IWCMC), which will be held in Shanghai, China on 1-6 June, 2026. My research interests include 5G/6G wireless networks, Autonomous Driving (AD), Automated Valet Parking (AVP), Large Language Models (LLMs), reinforcement learning, vehicular networks, target positioning, blockchain technology, and game theory.

Prospective Students: I am seeking self-motivated students to work with me on LLM-assisted Collaborative Perception for Intelligent Parking Scheduling and Path Planning in Automated Valet Parking and Charging (AVPC) Systems; FYP and Master's students are welcome to reach out via the following email: Gordon.Boateng@xjtlu.edu.cn
